What is Google Search Console?

1 min read

Google Search Console is a free service offered by Google to help you monitor, maintain and troubleshoot your site’s presence in Google Search results.
You don’t have to sign up to Search Console for your site to be listed in Google Search results.
But Search Console can help you understand and improve how Google sees your site.

Search Console offers features and reports for the following actions:

  • Ensure that Google can find and crawl your site.
  • Fixed indexing issues and requested re-indexing for new or updated content.
  • View Google Search traffic data for your site: how often your site appears on Google Search, which search queries bring up your site, how often searchers click for those queries, and more.
  • Receive notifications when Google finds indexing, spam, or other issues on your site.
  • Shows which sites are linking to your site.
  • Troubleshoot issues with AMP, mobile usability, and other Search features.

This is one example of a report from Google Serach Console that I receive via email every month.
