TV screens may always be crowded with the glittering stages of famous Indonesian music groups.
In the underground realm of Indonesian music, it’s no less glittering.
Shaggydog, a band from Sayidan, Yogyakarta, is one of them.
This March 2016, Shaggydog will be traveling to America to attend the world-class music scene, South by Southwest (SXSW) arts and entertainment festival.

SXSW is a major music and entertainment event held annually in Austin, Texas, USA.
SXSW is one of the most anticipated events where there are around 30,000 entertainment practitioners and nearly 3,000 mass media who participate in every major event that has been held since 1987.
The SXSW stage has been previously experienced by Metallica, Coldplay, Justin Timberlake, Tori Amos, Prince, Lionel Richie, Bruce Springsteen, Hanson, Norah Jones, Iggy Pop, Green Day and Johnny Cash.

Before Shaggydog, The SIGIT and White Shoes And The Couple Company had also performed at SXSW.
Indonesia’s consistency on the SXSW stage is certainly something to be proud of.

SXSW is not Shaggydog’s first taste of the world music stage.
They also toured the Netherlands in 2004 and 2006 and Australia in 2009.

As quoted from the official statement sent by Shaggydog’s management, Heru and friends will perform twice, on Thursday (17/3) at 8pm at Flamingo Cantina (515 E 6th St) and on Saturday (19/3) at 9pm at Russian House (307 E 5th St).

“When we get there, we want to spread our network as wide as possible, of course meeting potential overseas publicists,” Heru said.
