After some time learning to create a website through WordPress, it finally came to the point that the website became slow because it was filled with a lot of content.
This is what brought me together with CDN.
One way to reduce the access load of a website.
According to my understanding, CDN is a place to cache static website files such as images, css and javascript. And this CDN exists in various places around the world.
To simplify understanding, let’s make an example.
A. Websites that do not use CDN
- Your web server is in America.
- There is a visitor who is in Indonesia.
- Then the visitor will download the static content of your website on the American server.
B. Websites that use CDN
- Your web server is in America.
- You register your website with a CDN service.
- There is a visitor who is in Indonesia.
- Then the visitor will download the static content of your website through the closest CDN.
For example, Singapore.
I just tried registering my website to Cloudflare CDN service.
And from the results of my check, the website load speed does increase.
