Neonate Resuscitation Training

1 min read
According to the Indonesian Demographic and Health Survey, the neonate (infant birth) mortality rate in Indonesia is 19 deaths per 1000 live births.
The same research stated that the biggest causes of death of newborns aged 0-6 days were respiratory distress (37%) and prematurity (34%).
WHO data (1995) states that 19% of 5 million newborn deaths are caused by asphyxia and most babies do not receive adequate resuscitation.
Therefore, resuscitation of neonates by skilled nursing personnel can provide satisfactory results which in turn can contribute to the reduction of neonate mortality.
Resuscitation (artificial respiration) is an effort in providing adequate ventilation, oxygen administration and sufficient cardiac output to deliver oxygen to the brain, heart and other vital organs.
