Having trouble getting through blocked sites?
Try using Intra, a DNS resolver made by Jigsaw.
Jigsaw is one of the business units of Alphabet, Google’s parent company.
Functionally, Intra is basically a DNS resolver application that protects users when accessing DNS; similar to the 1.1.1.1 application.
For clarity, let’s take a moment to look at the background of DNS (Domain Name System).
In the 80s before the concept of DNS was introduced, computers connected to the internet were identified by a special number called IP Address.
So, the concept was similar to the phone numbers used today.
When the number of computers connected to the internet was still small, identifying computers based on IP Address numbers still made sense.
But as more and more computers connect to the internet, computer addresses based on a series of numbers become very difficult to remember.
What is DNS
Therefore, researchers from MIT looked for a different approach.
They found that people remember a string of words more easily than a string of numbers.
That’s how the concept of addressing a computer on the internet based on words instead of numbers was introduced.
So when you type in “hajarsabrani.com”, the browser knows that it is the computer where our site is located (which has an IP Address of 156.67.212.71.
In order to do so, you need a system that can translate a computer’s word-based address to the correct IP Address.
That’s where DNS comes in, which can be analogized to an address book that translates word-based addresses to numbers (and vice versa).
Today, there are many DNS resolver services, such as Google, CloudFlare, Dyn, and many others.
But this DNS approach also has its downsides.
When you type in a website address on your computer or smartphone, the request must reach a DNS server on the internet.
On the way from your computer to the DNS server, your request could be intercepted or blocked.
The DNS could also be manipulated; it should go to hajarsabrani.com but is redirected to playboy.com.
Now, this weakness can be avoided when using a DNS resolver like Intra.
Your requests to the DNS server will be encrypted, so the data cannot be blocked or manipulated.
In other words, Intra will protect your privacy while increasing the security of your computer/smartphone’s connection to the DNS server.
Netflix Access
But another effect of Intra is that it can penetrate blocked sites.
This is because the government’s approach when blocking a site is to put the site on a blacklist.
This list is then used by internet service providers (ISPs) to block certain sites.
Like Netflix, which is blocked by Telkom.
You can access it with this application.
Because Intra encrypts DNS requests, your ISP can’t see the site you’re trying to reach.
As a result, you can bypass the blocked site.
You can download Intra on the Google Play Store(link).
Meanwhile, the old version of Intra APK can be downloaded here.
After installing the Intra app, you can simply open the app and slide the toggle to the On position.
A confirmation box will then appear to create a dedicated connection path for Intra.
After pressing OK, Intra is active.
