Easy WP SMTP – WordPress

2 min read

Simple Mail Transfer Protocol or SMTP is a protocol to communicate with the server to send emails from local email to the server, before finally being sent to the recipient’s email server.
This process is controlled by the Mail Transfer Agent (MTA) on our email server.

In wordpress self hosting, we can use the Easy WP SMTP plugin to set the protocol of the email that we will use to send notifications (for example: notification of the latest post/purchase notification).
Without this setting, even though our website has a form feature, subscribe feature and features that allow users to input data to our website, we will not get automatic notifications or notifications because there is no SMTP that we configure.

Here’s the tutorial.

Then, upload it through the plugin menu in your wordpress admin.
Or, you can also download and install directly through the plugin menu.

  • Activate Plugin
  • Then access the Plugin through the Settings menu, Easy Wp Smtp.
  • Open the email configuration that you will use as a sending email on your website.
    It can be gmail/custom email.
Below is a configuration guide from gmail.
Incoming Email Server (POP) pop.gmail.com Use SSL: Yes Port: 995
Outgoing Email Server (SMTP) smtp.gmail.com SSL: Yes TLS: Yes (if available) Use Authentication: Yes Port for TLS/STARTTLS: 587 If you are using Gmail with a work or school account, contact your administrator for proper SMTP configuration.
Server waiting time More than 1 minute (preferably 5 minutes)
Full Name Write Your Name
Account Name Write down your email address
Password Your Gmail Password

If you are using a custom email from your domain, find a similar configuration in your email settings.
After finding it, we just need to include it in the easy WP Smtp settings.

If the settings have been adjusted, try moving to the Test Email tab to test sending emails.
If successful the display will be as below.
