ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support) is one of the names of training or courses on handling accident victims.
This training is a kind of practical review that aims for participants (especially doctors) to be able to diagnose accurately and accurately to trauma patients, to be able to perform aid correctly and systematically and to be able to stabilize patients for further treatment.

The idea was then adopted by the America College of Surgeon which made it a training module and is currently used in more than 45 countries in the world.
IKABI, an association of surgeon organizations in Indonesia as one of the license holders, has introduced this course since 1998 and until now more than 500 trainings have been held with no less than 13,000 doctors trained and entitled to get the certificate.
Although the cost is quite expensive -because of the international best standards and for the purposes of royalty fees- until now there are still many enthusiasts who have to wait on the queue list.

The ATLS course, which in Indonesia is compressed into 3 full days, includes; interactive lectures, demonstrations, group discussions, hands-on skills training including the use of experimental animals, simulations and both written and practical examinations.
More than 10 emergency case materials are taught, but all of them have the same handling principles.
It is very tiring, starting in the morning, at 7 am and finishing at 8 pm, usually taken on Friday to Sunday.
The big goal of this course is for the participants to be able to play a role in helping accident victims to avoid death or reduce the number of deaths due to trauma – keep in mind, globally trauma cases are still the biggest killer of humans.
