Anging Mamiri

1 min read
Created by Bora D. G. Irate, in a year that I couldn’t find the exact year haha.
Anging Mamiri means ‘Wind Blowing.
Derived from the city of Makassar, South Sulawesi.
Also used as the name of the capital city of South Sulawesi Province.
It has been performed by several musicians such as Tompi, Inna Kamarie and Ten2five.

The first time I heard it was in a kenduri cinta video hosted by Cak Nun (Emha Ainun Najib).
Anging Mamiri was sung by Inna Kamarie with Caknun, wrapped in typical Kyai Kanjeng music.
And after looking for some covers, only Inna’s distinctive voice can make me fall in love with this song.
Performed in Traditional Jazz style with gamelan accompaniment, Anging Mamiri sounds more easy listening than the original version which uses a slow tempo and musical accompaniment like a typical Sulawesi folk song.
